Atleti Want Barca Star to Replace Griezmann

Earlier this week, Antoine Griezmann finalized his departure from Atletico Madrid, having signed a contract with MLS club Orlando City, which he will join at the end of the European season.

The 35-year-old will thus end his successful period with “Los Colchoneros”, while the club has already begun the search for his replacement.

Sporting director Mateu Alemany will be responsible for identifying Griezmann’s successor, a task that is not expected to be easy.

However, he has already drawn up a list of three names, and according to Sport, Paris Saint-Germain player Lee Kang-in is at the top of it.

Atletico had been trying to sign Lee since January, when they were looking for a replacement for Giacomo Raspadori, who was on the verge of a move to Atalanta. In the end, they settled on Ademola Lookman, but they have not forgotten about the South Korea international, who could be set to return to La Liga in the summer.

Mason Greenwood is also on Atletico’s radar, with club leaders having been impressed by his performances at Marseille.

The former Getafe striker is valued for his finishing, speed and experience in La Liga, qualities that could make him a more direct point of reference in attack in the post-Griezmann era.

The list is completed by Ferran Torres, for whom Alemany has been a great admirer since he transferred him as Barcelona’s sporting director in 2022.

The Catalan club are becoming increasingly open to allowing the former Manchester City striker to leave, as they aim to keep Robert Lewandowski in the squad alongside a new number nine, which could be Atletico’s Julian Alvarez.
