Juventus could face a major loss in the upcoming summer transfer window, as Khephren Thuram could leave Turin if the Bianconeri fail to secure a place in the Champions League.
The French midfielder is considered one of the most important players in the team and his situation is closely linked to both the sporting ambitions and the financial aspect of the club. Juventus are now out of the title race and the only remaining objective is to finish in the top four in Serie A.
The recent defeat to Galatasaray at the Allianz Stadium has been considered a serious blow, increasing the pressure to save the season by qualifying for the Champions League. In addition to the sporting aspect, such a failure would have major financial consequences for the club.
If rivals like Como and Roma manage to secure the places leading to the Champions League, Juventus would not only be left out of Europe’s most important competition, but would also lose out on significant revenue. Such a scenario could force the club to make a major sale in the summer.
In this context, Thuram is seen as the leading candidate to leave. It is reported that the player himself would be open to a transfer if Juventus finish outside the top 4, in order to continue his development at the highest European level.
Since his transfer to Turin for around 20 million euros, Thuram’s value has increased significantly and has already attracted the interest of several big clubs. Among them is Manchester United, who see the Frenchman as an ideal reinforcement in midfield, especially in the wake of a possible departure of Casemiro. At “Old Trafford”, he could form an interesting trio with Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes.
The 25-year-old has had a solid season with Juventus, recording 38 appearances in all competitions, over 2,700 minutes on the pitch, and contributing 3 goals and 3 assists.
