Liverpool and Manchester United are closely monitoring the situation of Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck, according to reports from Christian Falk.
The Germany international has temporarily suspended contract renewal talks with Dortmund, citing the departure of sporting director Sebastian Kehl as a reason to reconsider his future.
However, the German club’s leaders suspect that other factors lie behind this decision.
According to sources close to the club, Borussia Dortmund believe that Schlotterbeck’s hesitation is also linked to the growing interest from the two Premier League giants, Liverpool and Manchester United.
With negotiations currently suspended, both English clubs could use this situation to explore the possibility of transferring the central defender during the upcoming window.
This season, Schlotterbeck has made 30 appearances in all competitions for Borussia Dortmund, scoring four goals and contributing one assist.
