Barcelona have made signing a centre-back a priority during the summer transfer window and it appears their choice has fallen on Serie A.
According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter have given the Catalan club the green light to initiate contacts for the transfer of Alessandro Bastoni.
The 26-year-old defender has emerged as a top target for Barcelona this summer, as the club look to strengthen their defensive unit with a quality player with experience at the highest levels.
The report also rules out speculation of an exaggerated valuation of €70-80m from Inter. Instead, the initial offer is expected to be in the €40-45m range, plus possible bonuses.
Bastoni has recently been at the center of criticism after the red card he received with the Italy national football team in the loss to the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team, in the World Cup play-off final.
However, this episode does not seem to have affected Barcelona’s interest, which remains determined to continue negotiations for his transfer.
