Real Madrid on the Verge of Signing Liverpool Star

Real Madrid have plans to address several positions in Alvaro Arbeloa’s squad during the summer transfer window, with one of the most urgent being the centre of defence.

David Alaba is set to leave when his contract expires in June, and there is also the possibility that Antonio Rudiger could follow him on the way out. For this reason, a transfer (or two) in this department seems necessary.

There has been a lot of talk in recent weeks about Real Madrid’s interest in Nico Schlotterbeck, who is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer. He is on the list, but the same goes for Ibrahima Konate.

Real Madrid had initially ruled out a move for Konate earlier in the season, but he has now returned to the club’s plans.

According to reports fromĀ Mundo Deportivo , a deal to bring the French defender to the Santiago Bernabeu is nearing completion, as he has yet to renew his contract with Liverpool.

Konate’s current contract expires at the end of the season and he has yet to decide where he will play next season.

The possibility of staying at Liverpool has not been completely closed, but as the days go by it is becoming less and less likely, a situation that suits Real Madrid.

As for replacing Alaba, there is little doubt that Konate would be an excellent reinforcement.

Although he has not had the best season with Liverpool, in his best form he is considered one of the most outstanding defenders in the Premier League.
