UEFA has decided that the Champions League final for the 2025/26 edition will no longer be held at night, as has been the case since the competition’s inception.

Starting with this year’s final in Budapest on May 30, the Champions League final will no longer be played at the traditional 9:00 PM time, but the match will start at 6:00 PM Central European Time.

UEFA decided on this revolutionary step and the introduction of a daily schedule for the Champions League final, so that fans and their families could follow the most important match of the season for the clubs.

For fans going to the match, an earlier kick-off time also means easier access to public transport after the match and a safer and more comfortable return home.

In addition, host cities will also benefit because fans will have more time to celebrate and socialize after the match.

“With this change, we are putting the fan experience at the centre of attention. The Champions League final is the pinnacle of the football season and the new kick-off time will make it even more accessible, inclusive and impressive for all participants.”

“The new time for Saturday’s final means the match will finish earlier, even if it goes to extra time or penalties, giving fans the opportunity to enjoy the rest of the evening with friends and family,” said UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin.
