Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool as a free agent in the summer of 2026. Although there has been talk of a possible move to Inter Miami to join Lionel Messi (38), transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that this is not true.
The Saudi Professional League emerges as a more likely option for the Egyptian striker’s future, reports Goal.com.
Salah has had a challenging 2025/26 season, experiencing moments of frustration and dissatisfaction during his time on the bench.
His current contract, which runs until 2027, will be cancelled, and Liverpool will release him without compensation, enabling Salah to seek a fresh start within weeks.
Possible options: Saudi Arabia and America
Since Salah became a free agent, interest in him has grown significantly. Clubs in the Middle East are offering lucrative contracts, while Cristiano Ronaldo (41) is the biggest star playing for Al-Nassr.
On the other hand, the United States has also been involved in the race, and there has been speculation about a possible union with Messi at Inter Miami, led by David Beckham.
However, Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, stressed that “nobody knows where Mohamed will play next season.”
Fabrizio Romano further clarified: “Inter Miami are not in talks to bring in Mo Salah. He will leave Liverpool at the end of the season as a free agent and can now negotiate with any club. The Saudi League is a great option and could make a serious offer.”
Salah’s legacy at Liverpool
During his Liverpool career, Salah has scored 255 goals in 435 appearances and has won the Premier League Golden Boot four times.
Despite scoring just five goals this season, he could end the season with more trophies, while Liverpool are still in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and the Champions League.
It remains to be seen where Salah’s career will continue, but he will undoubtedly be one of the most sensational transfers of the summer of 2026.
