Former England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson reveals a deal 11 years ago to transfer David Beckham to Leicester City. At the time, the former midfielder was playing in America for the Los Angeles Galaxy team while the Swedish coach asked him to return to the Premier League.

Eriksson reveals that Beckham did not rule it out as a possibility and was open to discussing it as an option, but the one who put the “veto” was the Briton’s wife, Victoria. The latter discussed with Eriksson herself, stressing that she could not live in the city of Leicester.

“I was at Leicester in 2010 and I talked to Beckham. I told him to come to Leicester when he finished his contract in America. I tried to tempt him with a return to the Premier League and in fact Beckham never said “no”. He didn’t like to say “no” so he told me that maybe the transfer could be done and that we would talk again.

But Victoria never found out about our conversation, she asked me a question; Goran can you see me living in Leicester? I answered him correctly and said no, after that moment I also no longer discussed a transfer of Beckham”, says Eriksson.
