One of the biggest matches on the football calendar will take place on Sunday night at the Bernabeu, where Real Madrid hosts arch-rivals Atletico Madrid in the capital’s derby.
Los Blancos are currently second in the La Liga table, four points behind leaders Barcelona, while Atletico hold third place, nine points clear of their city rivals.
Absences of both teams:
Real Madrid will be without Eder Milito, Dani Ceballos, Rodrygo and Thibaut Courtois, who are all out for the match. However, Ferland Mendy, David Alaba and Raul Asencio could return to the squad, while Jude Bellingham is fit again after recovering from a hamstring injury.
Kylian Mbappe returned from a knee injury as a substitute against Manchester City and is expected to play from the first minute alongside Vinicius Junior in attack, while Alvaro Carreras could return to the left wing of defense.
At Atletico Madrid, Pablo Barrios and Rodrigo Mendoza are out with injuries, while Jan Oblak is a major doubt with a groin problem. If he is absent, Juan Musso is expected to start in goal again.
Marc Pubill could return to defence for Atletico this weekend, while Alexander Sorloth could start up front, with Antoine Griezmann likely to start the derby from the bench. Meanwhile, Julian Alvarez, who has scored 17 goals this season, will be looking to add to his tally amid speculation over his future.
