Midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has admitted that he no longer feels the same passion for football as he did at the beginning of his career.
The Belgian midfielder has recently recovered from a serious injury, making three appearances before the March international break.
Asked about his passion for football, De Bruyne confirmed that it has changed compared to recent years.
“The same passion? No, I don’t think so.”
“But I think that’s normal after 30 years. Sometimes you lose interest a little, like in any other job.”
However, the 34-year-old insists he is not thinking about retirement and does not rule out the possibility of playing elsewhere after Napoli.
“I don’t know, I’m not thinking about that right now.”
“I’m not that kind of person. I still have a contract and I’m very happy in Napoli. I’m trying to enjoy the moment. I believe I can play for a few more years and then, when my body tells me to stop, I will. But for the moment I feel good.”
Meanwhile, the chances are extremely low that Napoli with De Bruyne will cause any surprises in Serie A, with Inter continuing strongly towards the championship title.
