Diogo Jota’s Wife Reveals The Last Text She Received From Jota

News

Diogo Jota’s wife, Rute Cardoso, has revealed the last message she sent to her husband before his fatal accident, in a new biography about the footballer.

She had wanted to send him the video of their wedding when he had a chance to stop the car, not knowing that the tragedy would occur.

The 28-year-old passed away in July last year after an accident with his rented Lamborghini Huracan on a Spanish motorway.

He was travelling with his brother, Andre Silva, to Santander to catch the ferry to the UK, having been advised not to fly due to a previous lung operation.

Spanish police said the accident was caused by high speed.

The official biography, written by former footballer Jose Manuel Delgado, is titled “Nunca Mais e Muito Tempo” and will be released on April 9 in Portugal.

The book describes the life and career of Diogo Jota, both as an elite footballer and as a person.

Rute tells how she started calling the hotel near the accident site when she became concerned that Diogo was not answering.

She describes the moment she sent him her last message: “Love, when you stop, call me, because I have something to tell you” – their wedding video.

Diogo and Rute had been together since childhood and were married on June 22, just 11 days before the fatal accident.

The biography also includes contributions from renowned coaches and footballers such as Jurgen Klopp, Arne Slot, Roberto Martinez, Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva.
