Manchester United are planning a very active summer in the transfer market, with the aim of bringing in three more players after major departures are expected in the squad.
The English club had already planned to bring in a new midfielder, and following Casemiro’s decision to leave, Elliot Anderson has become a priority. A striker is also expected to come in to support Benjamin Sesko, while reinforcements could also be made in the defensive wings.
However, the focus is not only on signings. The Red Devils are looking to sell several players to balance the squad and free up space on the roster.
Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund are among the main departures. Rashford continues to be linked with a move to Barcelona, while Hojlund is close to a permanent move to Napoli for around £38m, subject to certain conditions such as Champions League qualification being met.
Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia are expected to leave as free agents, with a possible return of Sancho to Borussia Dortmund.
Also on the way out is goalkeeper Andre Onana, currently on loan at Trabzonspor. Although the club are keen to sell him, his desire to fight for his place could complicate the situation.
The English club are also looking to offload Manuel Ugarte and Joshua Zirkzee, who have failed to make a mark at Old Trafford. Ugarte, a €50m signing from Paris Saint-Germain, has failed to impress, while Zirkzee has only five league goals and few minutes this season.
Despite this, both players are willing to stay and fight for a place in the team, but the management is open to selling if good offers come in.
With the return of Michael Carrick as interim manager, Manchester United have climbed to third place and aim to continue their good form in their next match against Leeds United.
