Big Changes at Barcelona – 5 Players Set to Leave

News

Barcelona are preparing for a major squad overhaul this summer, which could lead to the departure of five high-profile players from Camp Nou, including Marcus Rashford and Frenkie De Jong.

Despite dominating La Liga, the Catalan giants are aiming to balance their finances and refresh their first team after another disappointing Champions League elimination, this time at the hands of Atletico Madrid.

Hansi Flick and the club’s management have reportedly identified five key players who have “completed the cycle” and are expected to leave in the summer.

According to Marca , the list includes players with high salaries and others with contracts coming to an end, as the club seeks to ease financial pressure.

This list includes Marcus Rashford (on loan from Manchester United) and Frenkie De Jong as the most prominent names, along with Robert Lewandowski, Andreas Christensen and La Masia product Marc Casado.

The club’s hierarchy is prioritizing creating financial space to ensure long-term stability, after a season where the team failed to advance in the European arena.

De Jong, who currently earns around €400,000 a week, is considered the main candidate to be sold, in order to reduce the wage burden.

Meanwhile, according to Mail Sport journalist Chris Wheeler , Manchester United are also interested in removing Marcus Rashford’s high wage bill from their financial balance sheet, refusing to lower the buyout clause of around €30m included in the current loan deal.

Barcelona, on the other hand, is so far not ready to commit to finally buying the player.

Rashford contributed 12 goals and 13 assists during his loan spell, but Barcelona failed to renegotiate the €30m fee with Manchester United .
