Robbery or Penalty – Real Madrid TV Reply the Same Clip 245 Times

News

Real Madrid TV has caused a stir after the 1-1 draw against Real Betis at “La Cartuja”, after during the post-match analysis it broadcast footage of a suspected penalty case 245 times.

According to foreign media, the club’s channel focused on a moment when Betis defender Ricardo Rodriguez allegedly touched the ball with his hand inside the area, but referee Cesar Soto Grado continued the game, while VAR did not return it for review.

Real Madrid TV called this a “scandal”, calling the whole situation worthy of the “Guinness Book of Records” due to the constant repetition of the footage.

In its reaction, Real Madrid TV also hit out at Spanish football leaders, mentioning La Liga president Javier Tebas, RFEF head Rafael Louzan and the CTA, linking the situation to the “Negreira” scandal involving Barcelona.

“It’s Negreira’s League… a club that paid the vice president of referees for 17 years,” the Real Madrid channel said.

However, reports point out that Real Madrid TV paid no attention to a Betis claim of a handball earlier in the match, continuing to broadcast only the footage of Rodriguez’s incident in a series of five replays.

Meanwhile, coach Alvaro Arbeloa expressed his anger, insisting it was a “clear penalty” and that VAR should review the case.

Real Madrid TV called the situation “manipulation”, in a period where the team is going through great pressure after disappointing results and lack of trophies, while the club has also had clashes with La Liga at an institutional level.
