Arsenal are reportedly monitoring Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, with the club having already launched a detailed scouting assessment for the Nigerian forward.
According to Spanish sports newspaper AS , Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta was present at Saturday’s Istanbul derby between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce to closely observe the striker.
Napoli paid a club record fee of €75m to sign Osimhen from Galatasaray last summer, and the striker has justified the investment with 27 goals and assists in 31 appearances this season.
Arsenal signed Viktor from Sporting for €67m before the current season. The Swede has yet to fully live up to expectations, particularly in terms of play, despite scoring 21 goals in 49 official appearances for the Gunners, and the club are said to be considering another major reinforcement in the center of attack.
Galatasaray would seek to at least recover the amount invested for Osimhen, if they decide to sell him.
According to AS, Berta wasn’t the only one keeping an eye on Osimhen during the derby; Galatasaray goalkeeper Ugurcan Çakir and attacking midfielder Baris Alper Yilmaz had also caught his eye earlier.
Bayern Munich are also reportedly monitoring Osimhen for some time as they look for a long-term successor to Harry Kane, who will be 33 next summer.
