Real Madrid Want Him – Bayern Munich Start Negotiations With Man City Defender

News

Bayern Munich are reportedly showing strong interest in Josko Guardiola, with Bavarian club legend Lothar Matthaus confirming that they have already made initial contacts over a possible transfer from Manchester City.

Speaking to Sky, Matthaus revealed that Bayern are closely monitoring the former Bundesliga defender, who currently plays for City, noting that Guardiola – who was previously at RB Leipzig – has already been the subject of early talks involving the club’s Munich chiefs.

Additional reports, including from TEAMtalk, suggest that Bayern have also questioned the 24-year-old’s willingness to consider such a move, as the club look to bolster their defence ahead of the summer transfer window.

Guardiola joined Manchester City in 2023 from RB Leipzig for around €90 million and has been a regular starter, although his current season has been affected by a fractured tibia.

Bayern’s interest is also linked to ongoing concerns in the defensive department, as injuries to Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Ito have highlighted the lack of depth on the left wing, prompting internal discussions about reinforcements in defense.
