Barcelona Plan to Sign Tottenham Defender to Improve Defense

News

According to Diario Sport, Barcelona continue to monitor Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero, with a view to a possible move this summer.

The Argentine centre-back is said to be determined to leave Spurs, regardless of whether the club manages to survive in the Premier League or ends up being relegated.

Tottenham are insisting on a €60m release clause, but the price could be negotiable given the defender’s desire for a new career move. His value would drop significantly if Spurs were relegated from English football’s top flight.

Barcelona sporting director Deco is accelerating moves in the transfer window, while strengthening the defensive department remains a priority.

Romero is reportedly interested in a transfer to Camp Nou, while Atletico Madrid are also monitoring his situation.

The 2022 World Cup winner, who is currently recovering from a knee injury, is expected to be part of this year’s edition as well.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are also considering Roma defender Evan Ndicka as a possible alternative.
