Liverpool star Federico Chiesa has admitted he is considering leaving the club, in a candid interview where he also spoke about the situation involving two other teammates.
Chiesa, who transferred from Juventus in 2024, struggled for minutes in the 2025/26 season and started just one Premier League match with Liverpool.
The lack of space had prompted a wave of reports linking him with a return to Italy in January, but an injury to Alexander Isak and Mohamed Salah’s commitment to the Africa Cup of Nations blocked that scenario.
Chiesa intends to be with the Reds in the pre-season, but insists he will have to leave if his playing time does not improve.
“I want to play and, if I don’t find continuity in the Premier League, I will have to find it somewhere else,” Chiesa told the Italian media outlet.
“In the season that just ended, I hardly played at all. I will go to the US for the preparatory phase and then I will talk to the club and Iraola, and we will see,” he added.
Bayern Munich express serious interest in signing Liverpool star
“Honestly, I haven’t played much since the beginning of 2026. I have a very good relationship with Liverpool. In January the club and Slot told me I couldn’t leave. They needed me. It was a matter of numbers. We were in crisis.”
“I understood the situation and stood, keeping a smile on my face. Anyway, we are talking about Liverpool. Last year they allowed me to win the Premier League,” he concluded.
Chiesa remains beloved by Liverpool fans, despite failing to establish himself as a regular starter since his transfer for around €14 million.
