Tottenham have officially confirmed the transfer of Argentine defender Marcos Senesi, who joins the London club as a free agent after leaving Bournemouth.
The 28-year-old centre-back leaves the Premier League side after a solid spell at the Vitality Stadium, where he was noted for his composure in the game, his ability to build up plays from the back and his physical duels.
His performances with Bournemouth have attracted the attention of several big English clubs, but in the end it was Tottenham who secured his services.
Senesi is expected to officially join Spurs on July 1, and according to reports he has signed a four-year contract with the London club.
In his first statement as a Tottenham player, the Argentine expressed his excitement about this new step in his career:
“It’s a very special feeling to be a Tottenham Hotspur player. From the very first moment, the club has shown why they want me and how much they want me as part of the project they are building. It’s exciting and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
He added that his goal is to contribute maximally to the team’s success.
“Every time I step onto the pitch I will give my all to make the fans proud and to put the club back where it belongs. I want to win trophies with Tottenham and I will do everything to achieve that.”
With this transfer, Tottenham strengthens the defensive department with a player with Premier League experience, adding competition and stability to the team for next season.
