Alvaro Arbeloa Starts Talks With English Giants After Leaving Los Blancos

News

Earlier this week, Real Madrid confirmed the departure of coach Alvaro Arbeloa, a decision that had been expected for weeks.

The 43-year-old took charge of the team following the departure of Xabi Alonso in January, but the failure to win any trophies meant the club did not offer him a contract extension.

However, Arbeloa could soon put the disappointment of his departure from the Santiago Bernabeu behind him as he is a candidate to return to the bench immediately. According to The Athletic, he has held talks with Premier League club Fulham, who are currently looking for a new manager following the departure of Marco Silva.

Interestingly, Silva is expected to take over at Benfica, replacing Jose Mourinho, who will be the new coach of Real Madrid this summer.

Despite failing to secure a trophy during his time at Real Madrid, Arbeloa’s reputation in coaching circles has grown significantly, and the opportunity to manage a Premier League side is considered very tempting for the former Spanish defender.

If Fulham decide to offer him the coaching position, Arbeloa would most likely accept the challenge at ‘Craven Cottage’ without hesitation.

Fulham are not the only club to have been linked with his name. Arbeloa was previously mentioned as one of the candidates to take over at Bayer Leverkusen, but his name was removed from the German club’s shortlist.

However, it remains entirely possible that he will convince Fulham’s management and embark on a new adventure in English football.
