Erling Haaland has given an extremely honest assessment of the reality surrounding his place among world football’s elite.
Haaland started the World Cup in style by scoring twice in Norway’s 4-1 win over Iraq in their opening Group I match.
However, the Manchester City and Norway superstar didn’t let his ego get in the way of cold, hard statistics.
When asked directly if he is the best striker on the planet right now, Haaland did not hesitate to give credit to his main rivals.
“Am I the best striker in the world? I would say I’m at the top, but I don’t think I’ve scored the most goals this season.”
“Statistically, no, I’m not the best. I think Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe have scored more than me, and that’s the reality,” Haaland said.
