American actor Pat Finn, who appeared in several popular television series including Friends, Seinfeld, and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.
The comedian and improvisational actor passed away at his home in Los Angeles after battling cancer since 2022, according to U.S. media reports.
“He lived his life to the fullest—with joy and enthusiasm,” his family said in a statement.
Finn made his television debut in 1995 on The George Wendt Show, where he played the brother of the main character. He later had a recurring role on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
In 1998, he appeared on Seinfeld as Joe May, a party organizer notorious for delegating unpleasant tasks to his guests.
Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, Finn guest-starred in numerous hit TV series, including The King of Queens, Friends, That ’70s Show, and House.
He was best known for his role as Bill Norwood on The Middle, which aired for eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.
Finn’s film credits include Complicated (2009) and Santa’s Paws 2: Santa’s Puppies (2012).
Beyond acting, he was an accomplished improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he served as an associate professor. He was a member of a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.
