Al Pacino Heartbroken After Diane Keaton’s Death! She Was His Great Love, But He Let Her Go

After the death of Diane Keaton, an Oscar winner and Hollywood icon, actor Al Pacino (85) says he is heartbroken and deeply regrets never marrying her.

Their stormy love story lasted almost two decades – it began on the set of the film “The Godfather” in 1972, and ended in 1990 when Keaton issued an ultimatum and Pacino refused marriage.

“I know he will forever regret not taking that step when he had the chance,” a close friend of the actor told the Daily Mail.

“For years after the breakup, he said: ‘If it’s meant to be, it’s never too late.'” But now, unfortunately, it is,” he added.

Despite living within walking distance of each other in Beverly Hills, Pacino and Keaton never spoke again.

“He said to me, ‘There’s no need to talk. Everything that needs to be said has already been said,’” the source reveals.

Their on-screen chemistry spilled over into their private lives, with Keaton constantly emphasizing how much she was in love with him.

“I was crazy about him. He was charming, funny, always talking… And, oh, he was so handsome,” she told People in 2017.

In the same interview, Keaton admitted that while she wanted marriage, she knew it wouldn’t work out in the long run.

“He was looking for a woman who would take care of him. I wanted a man who would take care of me… It was important for us to let each other go. But it wasn’t my decision,” Keaton stressed.

At the 45th anniversary of the AFI Awards in 2017, Pacino publicly paid tribute to Keaton.

“Diane, you are an artist. A great artist. I love you – forever,” he said on stage then, with tears in his eyes.
