Barcelona will receive financial compensation from FIFA for the injury Raphinha suffered during the international break.
The Brazilian striker suffered a right thigh injury during a friendly match against the France national football team and is expected to be out for around five weeks.
As his absence exceeds the minimum of 28 days required by FIFA’s Club Protection Scheme, the Catalan club is entitled to a compensation payment.
FIFA compensates clubs based on the player’s fixed salary and the length of absence exceeding 28 days.
In Raphinha’s case, Barcelona could receive around €143,836. While this helps to cushion the financial impact, the compensation remains limited compared to the sporting cost of losing a key player.
By comparison, Barcelona had received significantly higher compensation for Gavi’s long-term injury in 2023.
