Barcelona has had a relatively limited squad in recent seasons, but one position where there are many alternatives is that of “number 10”.
Several players are capable of playing in this position, however Dani Olmo and Fermin Lopez have been the main contenders for minutes over the past two seasons.
Olmo arrived as a costly transfer in 2024, but Lopez has proven more consistent and distinctive throughout this period, earning coach Hansi Flick’s trust as a starter.
The young midfielder had interest from England last summer, but rejected a move to Chelsea and recently renewed his contract until 2031.
However, interest from abroad has not died down, according to reports from “El Chiringuito”, Manchester United are ready to offer up to 100 million euros for Lopez during the summer transfer window.

Despite this, it is said that neither the player nor Barcelona are interested in such a move at this stage and would not welcome an offer.
There is also the idea that the summer could be busier for Barcelona, with the club having announced that they expect to return within the salary cap for the first time in four years.
This would give sporting director Deco more flexibility to operate in the transfer market.
In this context, the club may be open to listening to offers for players like Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde, who have been regular starters in the last three seasons.
Meanwhile, Lopez seems to have consolidated his place in the starting lineup and for the moment the club intends to keep him, which could cast doubts over Dani Olmo’s future.
