Real Madrid Main Priority Set to Stay at Current Club

Real Madrid have suffered a blow in the transfer window as target defender Nico Schlotterbeck is close to signing a new contract with Borussia Dortmund.

The German centre-back was on Madrid’s list as part of plans to strengthen their defensive line, but reports suggest he is now expected to commit to Dortmund until 2031.

The proposed offer would significantly increase his salary and further strengthen Dortmund’s position, making a potential move to the Santiago Bernabeu very difficult from a financial point of view.

Schlotterbeck’s agent has tried to quell speculation about a departure, expressing confidence that the defender will stay and potentially become a central figure in the club’s next phase.

This development comes as another setback for Madrid, who are already seeing other options fail, including Dayot Upamecano, who is expected to stay at Bayern Munich.

Now the royal club is expected to focus on new names, where the idea of transferring Ibrahima Konate from Liverpool is not ruled out.
