TikTok gives parents more control: new tools to monitor and limit teen profiles
The platform is expanding its Family Pairing feature, allowing parents to monitor usage time, see who their children are interacting with, and even receive notifications when they post content.

Starting in November 2025, TikTok is introducing new rules and tools that should significantly improve the safety of young users on the platform. The upgrade to the Family Pairing feature will allow parents to have much greater control and insight into how their teens are using TikTok.

Among the new features is the ability for parents to set time limits for using the app. The feature called Time Away allows you to define periods during which the child will not be able to access TikTok – for example, during class, studying, or sleeping.

Parents will also now be able to:
– Monitor the time their child spends on the platform.
– See who their child is interacting with and which profiles they are following.
– Receive notifications every time their teenager posts a video or photo.
– They check which profiles are blocked and whether the child accepts messages from unknown persons.

The so-called wind down mode is also new – if users under 16 use the application after 10:00 PM, a screen will appear with a reminder that it is time to rest, accompanied by soothing music. The aim is to reduce the negative impact of excessive use of the platform on the sleep and mental health of young people.

Digital safety organizations welcomed the move, assessing that it is a step in the right direction. “Technological solutions are not enough on their own, but they are an important tool for parents to have an open dialogue with their children about digital habits,” said Common Sense Media.

With more than 1 billion active users per month, TikTok is one of the most influential social networks among young audiences, so such security upgrades are seen as a significant step towards creating a safer digital environment.
