The American woman with a double uterus gave birth to her first baby on Tuesday, and the second on Wednesday
Kelsey Hatcher is a 32-year-old American who has a rare double uterus. She shared her pregnancy on social media, and now she announced that she gave birth twice in two days – the first girl on Tuesday, and the second on Wednesday.
The first baby was born on Tuesday at 19:49 local time, and the second one was born on Wednesday at 06:09.
As a teenage girl, Хачер knew that I have a double uterus, “you uterus didelphys”. It is a congenital disorder that is estimated to affect about 0.3 percent of women. Since she had three normal pregnancies in the past, during a routine check-up in the eighth week of her fourth pregnancy, she found out that there was a fetus in each of her uteruses.
According to Shweta Patel, an obstetrician and gynecologist at the University of Alabama at the Women’s Center in Birmingham, uterine pregnancies are extremely rare. The last widely known case was in Bangladesh in 2019, when 20-year-old Arifa Sultana gave birth to healthy twins 26 days apart.
