41 Goals Away From the Magic Number: Ronaldo Scores, but Al Nassr Lose the Derby

Al Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo found the net against Al Hilal in Matchday 14 of the Saudi Pro League, reaching yet another milestone in his legendary career.

The Portuguese superstar opened the scoring in the 42nd minute, finishing off a well-worked team move after an assist from Kingsley Coman. The goal gave Al Nassr the lead in one of the most highly anticipated fixtures of the Saudi season.

However, the second half told a different story. Al Hilal mounted a strong comeback, scoring three times through Salem Al-Dawsari, Kalidou Koulibaly and Rúben Neves to secure a 3–1 victory. The reigning champions strengthened their grip on first place with 38 points, while Al Nassr remain second on 31 points.

Despite the defeat, Ronaldo’s goal was significant on a personal level. It marked the 959th goal of his professional career, underlining once again his extraordinary longevity and consistency at the highest level of football.

Of those goals, 817 have come at club level, while 142 have been scored for the Portugal national team, leaving Ronaldo just 41 goals away from the historic 1,000-goal mark.
