Beyoncé Opens Up About the Record-Breaking “Cowboy Carter” Tour and Its Early Challenges
Beyoncé has spoken candidly about her historic “Cowboy Carter” tour, which went on to become the highest-grossing country tour of all time—despite a rocky start.
In an interview with Pollstar, the 44-year-old superstar reflected on the tour’s early hurdles, including slow ticket sales during the first weeks and initial technical challenges.
“This was born out of my love and respect for country music,” Beyoncé said. “The goal was to celebrate American resilience.”
She explained that the tour is deeply connected to her Texas roots and to the often-overlooked history of Black cowboys in America. The creative vision also drew inspiration from personal family stories, including her mother’s hair salon and her great-grandfather’s business in Alabama, according to Daily Mail.
Beyoncé emphasized her hands-on dedication to every detail of the production—from sound design and lighting to choreography and visuals—to ensure fans felt fully immersed in the experience.
“We refine every element until I can feel the soul in every detail,” she added.
The tour featured a series of unforgettable moments, including surprise appearances by JAY-Z, Destiny’s Child, Miley Cyrus, as well as Beyoncé’s daughters, Blue Ivy and Rumi Carter.
After the challenging opening phase, Beyoncé’s five-night run at SoFi Stadium turned into a massive success, generating approximately €51.8 million in revenue and selling 217,000 tickets—surpassing even major tours by Shakira and Coldplay.
The triumph marked a dramatic turnaround from the early weeks, when resale ticket prices reportedly dropped as low as $20—an almost unthinkable scenario for an artist of Beyoncé’s stature.
Ultimately, the “Cowboy Carter” tour stands as a testament to artistic vision, cultural storytelling, and perseverance—proving that even record-breaking journeys can begin with uncertainty.
