Actress Denise Richards and her ex-husband Aaron Phypers have been ordered to vacate their home in Calabasas, after allegedly failing to pay rent.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six, a judge at the Los Angeles Superior Court approved the landlord’s eviction request on Friday.
The lawsuit states that Richards and Phypers owe the property owner approximately $84,000 in unpaid rent. The landlord is also seeking reimbursement for legal fees and damages related to the case.
Richards, 54, and Phypers, 53, signed the lease for the Calabasas property in June 2020 and paid a $24,000 security deposit at the time.
However, Richards no longer resides at the home amid her contentious divorce from Phypers after nearly six years of marriage.
In court filings obtained by Page Six in August, the actress claimed that she moved out of the property two years ago, stating that she believed Phypers’ family would only stay there temporarily.
The former The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star allegedly informed Phypers that he would be responsible for paying the rent starting in January, while his family continued to live in the house and refused to vacate the property.
According to the filing, the landlord attempted to contact Phypers for six months regarding the unpaid rent but was unable to reach him. As a result, an eviction notice was served, since both Richards and Phypers remain listed on the lease agreement.
The case adds another chapter to the highly publicized split between the former couple, as legal and financial disputes continue to unfold.
