Once a Key Player, Barcelona Star Now Faces Uncertain Future

Barcelona are prepared to consider a loan move for midfielder Marc Casadó if he decides to seek regular playing time before the January transfer window closes, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The La Masia graduate, who enjoyed a breakthrough season last year, has seen his role significantly reduced this campaign. His situation is expected to become even more complicated with the imminent return of Gavi from injury, which will further increase competition in midfield.

Casadó had established himself as a regular starter last season during a period when Marc Bernal was recovering from a serious ligament injury and Frenkie de Jong was sidelined. However, the past ten months have been challenging for the young midfielder.

With De Jong now fully fit and back in form, Casadó has accumulated just 786 minutes across 18 appearances in all competitions, falling behind Pedri, De Jong, Eric García, and Bernal in the midfield pecking order.

The arrival of João Cancelo has also ruled out any possibility of Casadó being used as an alternative at right-back, further limiting his opportunities.

Although Hansi Flick’s coaching staff have no intention of pushing the player toward an exit, the club would not stand in his way if a suitable offer arrived and Casadó expressed a desire to leave.

According to the report, Casadó rejected offers during the summer and has so far shown no inclination to ask for a move, making a departure before the end of this month unlikely—for now.
