Klopp Seriously Considering Real Madrid Job as Summer Plans Take Shape

News

Real Madrid are already assessing their long-term plans for the summer, just days after appointing Álvaro Arbeloa as head coach, and it appears the former Castilla manager may only be a temporary solution.

When asked directly about his future, Arbeloa stated that he will remain in charge for as long as the club wants him, but stopped short of offering any guarantees. Reports soon followed suggesting that Los Blancos are actively exploring other coaching options, indicating that Arbeloa is not viewed as a permanent appointment.

In the wake of Xabi Alonso’s dismissal, it is only natural for Real Madrid to re-evaluate their direction—and one high-profile name has resurfaced: Jürgen Klopp.

The former Liverpool manager, who stepped away from frontline coaching after leaving Anfield and currently holds a senior role within the Red Bull football group, has long been linked with Real Madrid. According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, Klopp is “seriously considering” a return to management if Real Madrid were to make a concrete offer.

While Klopp is reportedly happy in his current role, Plettenberg notes that Real Madrid has always fascinated him. The Spanish giants are said to be one of only two opportunities that could tempt Klopp out of retirement—the other being the Germany national team, should the right conditions arise.

Klopp himself recently played down speculation following Alonso’s exit, stating that links to the Real Madrid job were “nothing to do with me”, seemingly distancing himself from immediate rumors of a move to the Santiago Bernabéu.

Still, with Madrid weighing their options and Klopp open to a very select return, the possibility of one of football’s most charismatic managers taking charge in Spain remains firmly on the table.
