Benfica head coach José Mourinho has categorically dismissed rumors linking him with a potential return to Real Madrid.
In recent days, several reports suggested that Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez was considering bringing the Portuguese coach back to the Santiago Bernabéu for a new spell on the bench. However, Mourinho himself has moved quickly to shut down the speculation.
The self-styled “Special One” described the rumors as nothing more than a “telenovela” and made it clear that a return to Real Madrid is not on his agenda.
“Don’t count on me for telenovelas. There are good telenovelas, but they’re very long; if you miss one or two episodes, you lose track of the story. Don’t count on me, because I don’t watch telenovelas,” Mourinho said, dismissing the reports with his trademark irony.
José Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid for three seasons, from 2010 to 2013, leading the club through an intense and memorable period marked by fierce rivalry with Barcelona.
Since leaving Madrid, the Portuguese coach has gone on to manage Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Roma, Fenerbahçe, and is currently in charge of Benfica, where he continues his coaching career despite ongoing links to Europe’s biggest clubs.
