MOURINHO’S EMOTIONAL MESSAGE SHAKES REAL MADRID: His Powerful Words About Arbeloa Leave Fans Speechless
José Mourinho has once again proven why he is one of football’s most charismatic figures — this time with emotional words about Real Madrid and Álvaro Arbeloa ahead of their Champions League clash.
The Benfica coach wished Arbeloa success in his new adventure with Real Madrid, marking a special moment as he prepares to face his former player and his former club for the first time in six years. The last time Mourinho faced Los Blancos was during his spell at Manchester United.
Benfica are under intense pressure, desperately needing a victory to secure qualification for the Champions League knockout stage. Currently sitting 29th in the standings, the Portuguese giants are just two points away from the playoff zone.
Mourinho is also looking to improve his personal record against Real Madrid, which currently stands at four defeats and one draw — the latter dating back to his time at Porto.
Speaking about Arbeloa, Mourinho did not hide his admiration for the former defender, who now plays a key role at Real Madrid.
“From a human perspective, he is one of my favorite players. He wasn’t the best, but he was probably one of the most important players at Real Madrid,” Mourinho said.
“I hope everything goes very well for Arbeloa and that he has a fantastic career.”
The Portuguese coach stressed that he had not given Arbeloa any specific advice for his role at Real Madrid but highlighted the importance of the responsibility he has taken on.
“I wish him all the best. Arbeloa could coach any club in the world. Real Madrid can be coached by any coach in the world, and I want them to succeed.”
“Imagine how much I want Real Madrid to succeed with Álvaro — except tomorrow. I love Arbeloa and Real Madrid. I cannot give advice,” Mourinho concluded.
