ARTETA MAKES HIS MOVE! Arsenal Boss Invites Former Fan Favorite to Join His Coaching Staff
Mikel Arteta is already planning for the future at Arsenal — and it could include a familiar and much-loved face.
According to reports from Daily Mail, Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta is keen to bring former Gunners star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain into his coaching staff once the midfielder officially retires from professional football.
The 32-year-old has taken concrete steps toward a coaching career, having recently worked on completing his UEFA B coaching license at the Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium. As part of his preparation, Oxlade-Chamberlain has also been training with Arsenal’s U-21 squad to maintain fitness while exploring his next move as a free agent.
The former England international has been without a club since leaving Beşiktaş in August and is currently reported to be in advanced talks with Celtic over a potential return to playing football.
Arteta is understood to be a long-time admirer of Oxlade-Chamberlain, with the two having shared the pitch at Arsenal between 2014 and 2016. During his six-year spell at the club, Oxlade-Chamberlain made 198 appearances and became a key figure in the squad.
Their strong personal and professional bond is believed to be a major reason behind Arteta’s desire to involve him in the coaching setup. With his UEFA B license, Oxlade-Chamberlain would already be eligible to coach Arsenal’s U-18 or U-19 teams.
If the move happens, it would mark an emotional return — not just as a player, but as part of the club’s long-term vision from the touchline
