TRANSFER BOMBSHELL! The ‘Secret’ Player Offered to Man United in January — And Why the Club Said NO
A surprising transfer revelation has emerged from Old Trafford — and it involves a familiar Premier League name.
Manchester United were reportedly offered the chance to sign a former Premier League midfielder during the January transfer window, but the club chose to walk away from the deal.
The Red Devils made no winter signings, having already invested heavily last summer with arrivals including Benjamin Šeško, Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Senne Lammens. Despite that, midfield reinforcements remain a priority — especially with Casemiro expected to leave when his contract expires at the end of the 2025/26 season.
Several midfielders have been linked with United in recent months, such as Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest), Carlos Baleba (Brighton), and Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace). But few fans knew that a ready-made Premier League option was quietly on the table in January.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, former Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, now playing for Beşiktaş, was offered to Manchester United as a low-cost option.
Speaking on the Here We Go podcast, Romano revealed that Ndidi was keen on the move and available at an affordable price — yet United quickly decided not to pursue the transfer.
“They had the opportunity to complete the deal, but they chose not to do it,” Romano said.
Ndidi brings vast Premier League experience, having made 303 appearances for Leicester City between 2017 and 2025. His availability made the rejection all the more surprising — especially as United prepare for a midfield overhaul.
In hindsight, the decision has sparked debate among fans:
Did United miss a smart, low-risk signing — or are they holding out for something bigger?
One thing is certain: this “secret” January offer has added a new twist to Manchester United’s transfer story.
