Dana Eden, the Israeli producer known for her work on the acclaimed series Tehran, has been found dead in a hotel room in Athens, Greek police confirmed on Sunday.
The 52 year old producer was discovered after a relative unsuccessfully tried to contact her several times. Authorities were alerted, and her body was later found inside her hotel room.
Greek police officials stated that the case is currently being treated as a suspected suicide based on available evidence and testimony. Investigators reportedly found pills at the scene. A forensic examination also noted bruising on her neck, though officials have not indicated signs of third party involvement.
In a statement, Donna and Shula Productions, the international production company behind the series, described the news as a moment of deep sorrow for her family, friends, and colleagues. The company also dismissed circulating rumors suggesting criminal or nationalist motives, calling them false and unfounded. They urged media outlets and the public to refrain from spreading unverified claims.
Eden had been in Greece working on the fourth season of Tehran, according to Israeli media outlet Kan. The show’s third season was released in January and continues to draw international attention.
Tehran won the award for Best Drama Series at the 49th International Emmy Awards in 2021, cementing its place as one of Israel’s most successful global productions.
As investigations continue, the entertainment industry is mourning the loss of a producer who helped bring one of television’s most gripping spy dramas to the world stage.
