Former Real Madrid Midfielder Reveals Madrid’s Biggest Problem This Year

Alvaro Benito, former Real Madrid midfielder, has identified a lack of consistency as the club’s main problem this season.

Speaking on the El Larguero show , Benito touched on the fact that some players like Luka Modric have left the club with more Champions League titles than La Liga titles, using this as an example to illustrate the problem of continuity in the championship.

“Why are there players, like Luka Modric, who have left Real Madrid surprisingly with more Champions League titles than league titles? How do you explain that?” he said.

According to Benito, Real Madrid have often struggled to be a consistent and organised team throughout the season.

“Real Madrid has difficulty being consistent and being a real team. To win long championships, you have to be a team, work as a team and have clear game patterns, where even on bad days you win because of collective behavior and high quality.”

Benito added that the club’s success in the last 12-15 years has relied more on brilliant individual moments than on strong continuity as a team.

“If you fulfill your obligations as a team, you will win even the games when you play badly. And Real Madrid, in the last 12 or 15 years, have had difficulty being consistent and a united team,” he concluded.
