Former Real Madrid player Wesley Sneijder has harshly criticized France international Eduardo Camavinga after his unnecessary sending-off, which many believe played a key role in the Madrid club’s elimination from the Champions League by Bayern.
After the dramatic clash in Munich, Sneijder made no secret of his anger at Camavinga’s behaviour on the pitch, calling his move “irresponsible” at such a critical moment in the match.
“Camavinga is stupid. You can’t make mistakes like that at this stage of the match,” the Dutch legend said sharply.
“He put his team in an extremely difficult position and gave the opponent a clear advantage.”
Sneijder didn’t stop there, but said that his teammates should have reacted differently after the match, instead of wasting energy on the referee.
“After the final whistle, the Real Madrid players should have gone straight to the dressing room and vented their anger at him, because he is the reason for this disaster, instead of complaining about the referee’s decisions,” Sneijder added.
