Bad News for Italian Football – First Time in 35years That AC Milan or Juventus Don’t Make The UCL

News

A negative historical moment has been recorded in Italian football after the end of the Serie A season, as for the first time in 35 years neither Milan nor Juventus will play in the elite European competition, the Champions League.

Both clubs failed to secure a place in the Champions League for the 2025/26 season, settling only for participation in the Europa League.

Milan had their fate in their own hands, but were defeated 2:1 at the San Siro by Cagliari, paving the way for Roma and Como to overtake them in the standings and enter the top four.

On the other hand, Juventus drew 2:2 in the Turin derby against Torino and ended the season in sixth place, just behind Milan.

According to TuttomercatoWeb, this is the first time since the 1991/92 season that neither Milan nor Juventus will be part of the strongest European competition.

Since 1992, when the European Cup was renamed the Champions League, at least one of these two Italian giants had always been a participant.

Meanwhile, Luciano Spalletti is expected to continue on the Juventus bench after renewing his contract until 2028, while Massimiliano Allegri’s future at Milan still remains unclear.
