Kylian Mbappe’s long-term future continues to be the subject of speculation, despite the French superstar only recently transferring to Real Madrid.
The 27-year-old remains one of the biggest names in world football and interest in his next move is not waning, as the striker prepares for the 2026 World Cup after a turbulent season in Spain.
According to reports, there could be big changes at the Santiago Bernabeu after another disappointing season by Real Madrid standards. Jose Mourinho is said to be close to taking over as manager, after Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa had brief spells in charge at the Bernabeu.
Meanwhile, Alonso reportedly maintained a strong relationship with Mbappe, as the Spaniard is expected to take charge of Chelsea from the start of the 2026/27 season.
As for Mbappe’s form, he has scored 25 goals in La Liga in 31 appearances, while he has added 15 goals in just 11 matches in the Champions League.
However, despite having three years left on his contract with Real Madrid, reports continue to link him with a possible move to the Premier League in the future.
According to talkSPORT, Liverpool could have a distinct advantage in any future competition for Mbappe, due to his mother’s early admiration for the English club.
Journalist Julien Laurens spoke about the issue on talkSPORT’s “Hawksbee and Jacobs”, where he said:
“I think Real was always the dream and he has a long-term contract. He’s 27, going on 28. I think I can see him staying there for a long time, but I don’t think it’s impossible to see him leaving at some point.”
“We know Liverpool is the club his mother loves. They were the team she watched the most and she really loved it.”
Meanwhile, Mbappe himself had previously admitted that Liverpool had been very close to signing him early in his career.
