Real Madrid presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme said on Sunday that if elected as club president, he intends to bring Ballon d’Or winner Rodri to the Santiago Bernabéu.
He has also warned that, in the event of victory in the elections, Real will aim to add two more stars to the team, without mentioning names.
“If I were president, a player like Rodri would play for Real Madrid,” Riquelme said, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Meanwhile, current president Florentino Perez has announced new elections, which will be held on June 7. Perez and Riquelme are in the running for the presidency.
Perez, 79, has been president of Real Madrid since 2009, having previously managed the club from 2000-2006.
