Liverpool have officially confirmed the appointment of Andoni Iraola as the team’s new manager, with the Spaniard signing a two-year contract with the Anfield club.
Iraola comes to the Reds after being the leading candidate to replace Arne Slot, who was sacked on Saturday, May 30, after two seasons in charge.
The Spanish coach comes after a successful spell at Bournemouth, where he stayed for three seasons and managed to lead the club to qualification for Europe for the first time in history.
The 2025/26 season also marked the end of his adventure on the south coast of England, while Iraola’s work was widely praised for the way he raised the team’s competitive level in the Premier League.
Bournemouth finished the championship in sixth place, just three points behind Liverpool who finished in fifth position, which made his influence on the English elite even more evident.
Now, Iraola takes over one of the biggest clubs in England, with the aim of Liverpool returning to the trophy race and having stability in the coming seasons.
