Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has heaped praise on goalkeeper Vozinha after his impressive performance against Spain.
The 40-year-old was the undisputed hero for Cape Verde, where he made seven saves inside the area.
Henry recently praised Vozinha, stating that in addition to the saves, the ‘keeper’ also angered Spain’s attackers with all those saves.
“We have to give him credit. At 40 years old to produce that performance in the World Cup against Spain is incredible.”
“To be honest, Spain could have scored two or three in the first half alone, but every time they thought they were going to score, Vozinha said ‘not tonight’.”
“What impressed me was not the expectations, but the timing. Big moments, in one-on-one situations, the reflexes where he was there.”
“At that age most goalkeepers think about retirement, how to manage their career. He looked like he was just starting out. You could see the Spanish strikers getting angry. In those moments you know when a goalkeeper is having a special night.”
“Seven saves don’t tell the whole story. It seemed like every attack had to go over him. That’s why people love football. Sometimes a person decides not to let history be written so easily,” he declared.
