Barca Star Demands Barcelona Sign Marcus Rashford

News

Frenkie de Jong believes Barcelona should not hesitate to make Marcus Rashford’s stay at Camp Nou permanent after a season spent on loan.

The English striker joined the Blaugrana on a temporary deal after falling out of Manchester United’s plans, while last season he spent six months on loan at Aston Villa.

However, Rashford seems “reborn” in Catalonia, recording 14 goals and 11 assists in all competitions for Hansi Flick’s side.

In terms of goal involvements (goals + assists), only Lamine Yamal, Fermin Lopez and Raphinha have higher figures than Rashford this season for Barcelona. He also starred with a spectacular free kick in the win that virtually sealed the LaLiga title against arch-rivals Real Madrid earlier this month.

It is reported that Manchester United are ready to finally sell Rashford, while after helping Barcelona retain the championship title, the player himself has expressed his desire to stay.

De Jong hopes for the same scenario, stating to Sport ES:

“Yes, I believe [he should stay]. In the minutes he has played, he has given us a lot: goals, assists, depth.”

“He is a fast player who threatens opposing defenses. I would be happy if he continued with us.”

“He came here with a lot of enthusiasm. He was very happy to be here and from the first moment he arrived, you could see he wanted to stay.”

“He tried to adapt as best he could and I saw him do well.”

Meanwhile, the 25 goal involvements this season are more than Rashford had achieved in each of the last two seasons: 13 with United in 2023/24, as well as 19 in 2024/25.
