Barcelona is preparing for a busy summer in the transfer market, but in order to make two big transfers, the Catalan club must first secure income and salary space.
The leaders are hoping to free up budget by offloading names like Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Robert Lewandowski, however neither is expected to bring in a significant amount from the transfer.
The situation is different with Marc Casado. The 22-year-old midfielder, who came out of La Masia academy, has failed to gain a significant role this season and with the return of Gavi, he has fallen even further down the midfield hierarchy, behind names like Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Marc Bernal and Eric Garcia.
For this reason, Barcelona are willing to listen to offers for him in the summer. The club believe that his value could drop if he stays longer, while the player himself has admitted that leaving is the best solution to have more space on the pitch.
Casado no longer sees himself as part of coach Hansi Flick’s plans and all parties are in line for a separation at the end of the season.
Currently, Saudi Arabia is seen as the most likely destination for him, as several clubs have expressed concrete interest. In the past, he has also been followed by Atletico Madrid and Premier League teams, so it remains to be seen whether there will be any new developments.
For Barcelona, a transfer to Saudi Arabia would be the most financially advantageous option, but the final decision will depend on the player himself and his sporting ambitions.
