The footballer, who is owned by Genoa in Italy’s Serie B, chose the summary trial along with his uncle and both received the same sentence, while a third person involved in the incident has not yet been sentenced, having opted for the normal procedure of judgment.

In addition to prison, Portanova will have to pay 100,000 euros to the raped girl, 20,000 euros to her mother and 10,000 euros to an association for the protection of women.

The girl who denounced them was a minor student, who accused that she had been raped at a private party in an apartment and that she had documented on video everything that happened, while the investigations took place in March of this year.

Earlier, the girl refused a compensation offered by Portanova’s lawyer, as a way to make peace and close the case, while the 22-year-old defender himself has confidently declared that he is innocent, even after the court’s decision.

Manolo Portanova was born in Naples and grew up as a footballer at Lazio and Juventus, while it was with the whites that he made his debut in the elite of Italian football and from 2021 he is part of Genoa.
