Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez are officially preparing for their wedding, which will take place on the island of Madeira in the summer of 2026, right after the FIFA World Cup.
According to local outlet Jornal da Madeira, the ceremony is expected to be held at the historic Funchal Cathedral Sé do Funchal, followed by a luxurious reception at one of the island’s top hotels.
The couple, who announced their engagement in August, are getting ready for one of the most anticipated events of their relationship, which began in 2017. Cristiano proposed to Georgina nine years after they first met at a Gucci store in Madrid.
In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, the Portuguese superstar revealed that the proposal happened spontaneously during a quiet evening with the family:
“Mendova se ishte momenti sepse ajo është nëna e fëmijëve të mi dhe personi që dua më shumë,” said Ronaldo. “Ishte një moment i bukur, mbajta një fjalim të thjeshtë. Nuk jam shumë romantik, jam romantik në mënyrën time.”
Ronaldo confirmed that the wedding will take place after the World Cup, adding that Georgina prefers a more intimate and private ceremony rather than a large and extravagant celebration.
The choice of Madeira, the footballer’s birthplace, is expected to draw global attention, as it will host one of the most talked about celebrity weddings of the upcoming year.
