Spain national team head coach Luis de la Fuente has praised Lionel Messi ahead of the upcoming Finalissima and a possible meeting at the 2025 World Cup, highlighting the Argentine legend’s enduring quality and influence.
In an exclusive interview with Spanish newspaper AS, the coach of the European champions underlined that Messi’s impact remains undiminished despite his age.
“Messi is one of those players who should never disappear. Just like Cristiano Ronaldo. They are fantastic,” De la Fuente said.
Referring to the upcoming Finalissima 2026 clash between Spain national football team and Argentina national football team, De la Fuente stressed that Messi’s presence alone can decide the outcome of the biggest matches.
“Whatever Messi’s form is in the Finalissima or at the World Cup, he is one of those players who can make the difference with just a single detail,” he added.
“I have complete respect and admiration for Leo’s career and for everything he still has ahead of him,” the Spain coach concluded.
